What we build
Access control and security systems
An access control system is a set of small parts that must all work together: the reader, the controller, the lock, the power supply, the exit button, the fire-alarm interface and the software that holds the user list. When one of them is specified badly, the door fails. We manage office security projects from survey to handover, with specialist installers working under our supervision, so that every door is tested and recorded before you accept it.
What we do
- Access control for offices: card, PIN and mobile credentials, door controllers and user management
- Video intercom at entrances and reception, linked to door release
- CCTV integration with access control, so that door events and video can be reviewed together
- Magnetic locks, electric strikes and exit devices, with fire-safe release on alarm
- Dedicated power supplies with battery backup for locks and controllers
- Commissioning, user training, as-built drawings and a door schedule
How we work
- 1
Site survey: each door, its use, its fire role and its cable route
- 2
Written design and door schedule, agreed with you and the building management
- 3
Contractor selection and a fixed scope for each specialist
- 4
Installation under daily supervision, with a short written report each day
- 5
Door-by-door testing, including power loss and fire-alarm release
- 6
Handover: as-built drawings, configuration backup, training and snag closure
Access control and CCTV, planned together
Many offices in Nairobi have CCTV from one installer and access control from another, and neither system knows about the other. When something goes wrong at a door, someone searches hours of video by hand. We plan the two together: the cameras that cover controlled doors, the events the access system records, and how a guard or office manager moves from a door alarm to the matching video.
Where the existing CCTV can stay, we keep it and integrate it. We do not replace equipment that works.
Magnetic locks and fire safety
A magnetic lock holds a door only while it has power. That makes it fail safe, which is what an escape route needs, but it also means the lock depends on its power supply, its wiring and its interface to the fire alarm. We specify the lock, the power supply and the release together, so that each door on an escape route opens on a fire-alarm signal and on loss of power, and doors that must stay secure do so.
Every release is tested at commissioning, and the result is written in the door schedule.
Power, backup and records
Locks and controllers get their own power supplies with battery backup sized for the doors they serve, not a shared socket under a desk. At handover you receive as-built drawings that show where every controller, power supply and cable run is, so that the next technician does not have to open ceilings to find them.
Case study
Access control and video intercom upgrade for an international group's regional office in Nairobi
Sysmera manages the upgrade for the client: the project plan, the vendors and the specialist contractors who do the installation. We supervise the works on site, and each door is inspected, tested and recorded before it is handed over.
The work is ongoing.
Frequently asked
Do you install the equipment yourselves?
Specialist installers do the physical installation under our management and daily supervision. We are accountable to you for the design, the schedule, the quality checks and the handover records.
Can you integrate with the CCTV we already have?
Often, yes. We first check what the existing cameras and recorder can do. If they can share events or video with the access control software, we integrate them; if not, we set out the options and what each one involves.
What happens to the doors in a power cut or a fire alarm?
That is decided door by door at design stage and tested at commissioning. Escape-route doors release on a fire-alarm signal; battery backup keeps the system running through ordinary power cuts.
Can you work in an occupied office?
Yes. Noisy work and cable runs are planned outside working hours where needed, and doors are switched over one at a time so that the office stays secure.
